At Lisa Mongulla Photography, we believe that a senior session is more than just taking pictures or creating portraits.
They become a way to preserve history.
To honor family legacy.
To hold onto places, stories, and memories that mean everything.
They become a reminder of where you come from before they step into what comes next.
Annaliese’s Signature Senior Session was exactly that.
From the moment we began planning, it was clear this session would carry a deeper emotional connection. The location wasn’t chosen simply because it was beautiful—it was chosen because it was home. Because it represented generations of memories, traditions, hard work, and family connection.
As a Westampton Senior Photographer, one of the things I value most is helping seniors choose locations that feel deeply personal—places that naturally reflect who they are and the experiences that shaped them. When a location carries emotional meaning, the portraits become something entirely different. They stop feeling like “just senior pictures” and begin to feel like part of a family story.
For Annaliese, that place was her family’s farmhouse and cranberry farm in Medford, New Jersey.
Annaliese chose a Signature Senior Session, allowing the flexibility and time needed to fully capture the beauty of the farm and the emotions tied to it.
For Annaliese, this wasn’t simply a scenic backdrop. It was the place where childhood memories were made. A place connected to family roots, quiet moments, and time spent growing up surrounded by history and tradition.
That emotional connection could be felt throughout the entire session.
And today, those portraits hold even greater significance.
Michelle described the property beautifully:
“We chose that spot since it is a main core of our family. There’s not one bad spot to get the most amazing pictures on that property.”
One of the most meaningful parts of a Signature Session is the ability to weave storytelling into the experience.
Rather than rushing through poses or locations, the session becomes intentional—allowing space for movement, emotion, connection, and personality to naturally unfold.
The Gerber family farmhouse was more than simply a beautiful location—it was a piece of family history spanning generations.
The farmhouse itself was over 200 years old and had long been at the center of the family’s story.
Annaliese shared:
“My family farm was the location of my photoshoot. I picked this location as it has beautiful scenery and it is where I spent my time when I was younger.”
The property carried generations of memories.
Her great-grandfather, George, was born and raised there alongside his siblings while his father, Julius, managed the family farm. The Gerber family continued operating the farm for many years until Annaliese’s Aunt Christine and Uncle Tom purchased it in 1997. Since then, the family has continued to work and gather there—especially during cranberry harvest season.
It was a place woven into the fabric of their family.
And tragically, shortly after the session, the farmhouse was destroyed in a fire during a winter blizzard.
Following the loss, the family came together to share and write down memories connected to the home—honoring not only the structure itself, but everything it represented.
Although devastating, the family plans to rebuild in the future to continue honoring its incredible legacy.
That reality makes these portraits even more meaningful today.
They are no longer simply senior portraits.
They are part of a family archive.
A preservation of place.
A reminder of connection, history, and home.
Annaliese first discovered Lisa Mongulla Photography through recommendations and a strong local reputation.
“She was highly recommended to me and well known in Shawnee High School.”
Her mother, Michelle, also shared how important it was to find someone who could create a more personalized experience after previous school portraits hadn’t reflected what they hoped for.
“Lisa was referred to me by another parent that has used her for her daughter’s senior pictures. I have two older children that had their pictures taken at school and did not turn out very well.”
From the beginning, the goal was to create portraits that felt authentic, meaningful, and truly reflective of Annaliese.
At the time of the session, these portraits already carried emotional weight because of the family connection to the farm.
But after the farmhouse fire, their meaning deepened even more.
This is the power of choosing meaningful locations.
Senior portraits become more than images for announcements or social media—they become visual heirlooms tied to family history and memories that can never be recreated.
Michelle shared plans to use the portraits for:
• Wall art
• Graduation invitations
• Family gifts
• Social media
• Lasting memories
And when it came time to view the portraits, choosing favorites became almost impossible.
“We look forward to purchasing, but now it’s going to be difficult to pick out pictures because we love them all.”
When asked whether they would recommend Lisa Mongulla Photography, both Annaliese and Michelle answered with an immediate yes.
“I already told all of my junior friends about Lisa’s capabilities.”
Michelle added:
“I definitely would recommend Lisa to everyone. If they want amazing pictures and to feel relaxed, Lisa is definitely the one that you want to do your session.”
And that’s exactly what these sessions are meant to be.
Not stressful.
Not overly posed.
Not one-size-fits-all.
But personal.
Meaningful.
Comfortable.
And completely centered around your story.
Annaliese’s future is just as bright as her session.
She plans to attend Louisiana State University (LSU), where she will major in Kinesiology/Exercise Science on the path toward earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
“I plan on going to Louisiana State University!”
“I plan on studying exercise science on the pre-physical therapy track to be a sports physical therapist!”
Michelle also shared how proud they are of Annaliese’s accomplishments and how fortunate she was to be accepted into every college she applied to.
Every senior has places, people, and memories that helped shape who they are.
As a Westampton Senior Photographer, I believe those stories deserve to be preserved in a way that feels timeless and authentic.
