From Princeton Portraits to Penn State Dreams

Senior year is a season filled with anticipation.

It's a time when years of hard work begin opening doors to exciting new opportunities. It's a season of looking back on everything you've accomplished while also looking ahead toward the future you're working to build.

For Alex, that future is already taking shape.

As he prepares to begin his next chapter at Penn State University and pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering, his Essential Senior Session became the perfect opportunity to celebrate this important milestone and preserve memories of a season that will never come again.

As a Westampton Senior Photographer, one of my favorite parts of senior photography is getting to know each student's personality, goals, and story. Every senior has a unique journey, and Alex's session was a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful portraits happen when seniors simply feel comfortable being themselves.

Choosing the Right Senior Photographer

Finding the right photographer is about more than beautiful images.

It's about finding someone who can create an experience that feels relaxed, enjoyable, and authentic.

For Alex and his family, the decision came through a trusted recommendation.

"She was recommended by Jen D'Alesandro."

Referrals are one of the greatest compliments I can receive because they reflect the experiences of families who have trusted me to capture some of life's most important milestones.

Confidence, Surprises & Seeing Yourself in a New Way

One of the most rewarding parts of senior photography is watching a senior arrive feeling nervous or uncertain and leave feeling confident and excited about their portraits.

Like many seniors, Alex wasn't completely sure what to expect before his session. In fact, one of his biggest concerns was whether he would even like the photos.

"I honestly worried beforehand that I wouldn't like any of the pics."

What surprised him most wasn't just the final images—it was how easy and enjoyable the entire experience felt.

"The experience was easier and quicker than I expected. I also didn't expect to get early peeks."

Being able to preview images during the session helped build confidence and reassurance along the way. Instead of wondering how the portraits would turn out, Alex was able to see the results as they were happening, making the experience feel relaxed and stress-free.

By the end of the session, the nerves that were there at the beginning had completely disappeared.

"Yes! I honestly worried beforehand that I wouldn't like any of the pics."

Moments like this are one of the reasons I love what I do. Senior portraits aren't just about creating beautiful images—they're about helping seniors see themselves the way others already see them: confident, capable, and ready for whatever comes next. When a senior walks away feeling more comfortable in their own skin and genuinely excited about their portraits, that's when I know we've created something truly meaningful.

Watching the Experience Come to Life

One of my favorite parts of any senior session is watching a senior's confidence grow as they begin to see their portraits come to life.

A unique part of my portrait experience is giving seniors and their families opportunities to preview images throughout the session. For many seniors, seeing those first few photographs instantly replaces nervousness with excitement.

For Alex, that became one of the highlights of the entire experience.

"My favorite part was seeing the pictures as you took them and knowing there were going to be lots of options."

Those early previews provided reassurance and confidence, helping him relax and enjoy the process even more.

"Relief. After seeing pics on the back of the camera I knew I was going to have options to choose from."

That moment is often a turning point during a session. The uncertainty fades, confidence grows, and seniors begin to see themselves in a whole new way.

When asked if they would recommend Lisa Mongulla Photography to other families, the answer was simple.

"Absolutely."

The family also reflected on what made the experience stand out most.

"This was a great experience! We felt fortunate to get to pick the setting and that the whole session felt easy and successful."

Those words perfectly capture what I strive to create for every senior who steps in front of my camera—a personalized experience that feels relaxed, meaningful, and enjoyable from start to finish, while creating portraits that celebrate this exciting season of life.

A Meaningful Location for an Exciting Next Chapter

One of the best parts of a senior session is choosing a location that complements both the senior’s personality and the overall feel of the portraits. For Alex, Princeton provided the perfect backdrop.

With its beautiful architecture, classic pathways, and timeless atmosphere, Princeton offered a variety of scenic locations while creating portraits that felt polished, confident, and fitting for such an important milestone.

“Princeton has scenic backgrounds that we thought would be perfect for senior pics.”

The setting also felt especially appropriate for a senior preparing to take the next big step in his academic journey. One of my favorite questions to ask every senior is, “What’s next?” For Alex, the answer is exciting.

“Alex is off to Penn State next month!”

He’s already focused on an ambitious path and plans to study aerospace engineering.

“I plan to study aerospace engineering.”

It’s always inspiring to photograph seniors who are looking ahead with purpose and excitement. Alex’s portraits captured this meaningful transition beautifully — celebrating where he is right now while honoring the bright future waiting for him at Penn State University and beyond.
