One of the things I love most as a Westampton Senior Photographer is getting to know the incredible young people I photograph and learning about the passions, goals, and dreams that make each senior unique.
For Anya, those dreams are taking her all the way to the skies.
Anya's senior experience included both a Yearbook Portrait Session and an Essential Senior Session, creating the perfect blend of tradition and personalization. More than just a portrait session, it was a celebration of her senior year and her dreams of becoming a pilot. From classic yearbook portraits to a custom session at a local airport, every image was designed to tell her story and capture this exciting chapter before she takes flight toward her future.
Anya's session is a wonderful reminder that senior portraits are about so much more than photographs.
They're about celebrating accomplishments.
Honoring passions.
Capturing confidence.
And preserving this unique chapter before life takes off in exciting new directions.
Finding the right senior photographer is about more than beautiful images. It's about finding someone who can create an experience that feels personal and meaningful.
When asked why they chose Lisa Mongulla Photography, Anya's family shared:
"We wanted our senior photo sessions to be special and truly reflect Anya's personality. We looked through Lisa's gallery and spoke to other seniors who had their portraits taken with her. The pictures were all fantastic, and everyone we spoke to was very pleased with the portraits and experience."
As a Burlington County Senior Photographer, hearing feedback like this means the world to me because my goal is always to create portraits that feel authentic to each senior's story.
One of the most meaningful parts of any senior session is choosing a location that reflects who you are and the path you're preparing to follow. While Anya's traditional yearbook portraits were created in the studio using timeless lighting and classic styling, her personalized senior session called for something much more unique.
For Anya, there was only one place that truly felt right—the airport.
As an aspiring pilot with plans to pursue a career in aviation, the airport wasn't simply a backdrop; it was a reflection of her passion, her goals, and the exciting future waiting ahead.
"For the more personal session, we chose the airport because it reflected Anya's plans for her future as a pilot as well as her love of planes."
To bring that vision to life, we photographed her senior portraits at South Jersey Regional Airport in Lumberton, New Jersey, home to a thriving aviation community and flight training programs. Surrounded by aircraft, runways, and the energy of aviation, the location perfectly complemented Anya's future career aspirations.
Creating portraits at an active airport certainly came with some unique planning considerations. Coordinating with the flight school, working around aircraft activity, and navigating a location that was new for everyone involved required flexibility and teamwork. But those challenges ultimately became part of what made the experience so special.
"For the airport session, we were a little unsure because the location was so unique and new to everyone involved—the flight school, Lisa, and us. It was a lot to coordinate, and Lisa worked closely with us to organize everything. Fortunately, the flight school was very accommodating."
This level of collaboration is what transforms a senior session from a photoshoot into a personalized experience. Whether it's an airport, a sports field, a family farm, the beach, a theater stage, or another meaningful location, incorporating the places and passions that define a senior's life helps create portraits that feel authentic, personal, and unforgettable.
For Anya, South Jersey Regional Airport wasn't just where we took photos—it was where her story took flight.
It's completely normal for seniors to feel a little nervous before their portrait session. After all, most aren't used to being in front of a professional camera, and the thought of posing or being the center of attention can feel intimidating at first.
While Anya felt relaxed during her studio yearbook session, the airport session brought a different level of excitement—and understandably so. The location was active, public, and filled with people coming and going, creating a setting that felt very different from a traditional portrait session.
"She was nervous about the session at the airport. The space is so public and in use at the time, and there are often spectators watching planes take off and land. She was excited about the pictures themselves."
That's where preparation, experience, and guidance make all the difference.
One of my goals as a Westampton Senior Photographer is to ensure seniors never feel like they're navigating the experience alone. From outfit recommendations and accessories to posing, lighting, and location planning, I guide them every step of the way so they can focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the details.
Anya's family appreciated that support throughout both sessions.
"During the yearbook session, Lisa was wonderful at suggesting poses and adjusting them so they looked perfect in the pictures."
"Lisa gave excellent guidance on potential outfits and accessories for the outdoor session."
As the airport session unfolded, those initial nerves quickly began to disappear.
"Anya became more relaxed as both sessions progressed."
The unique airport setting also required some creativity and flexibility. Between the wind, changing light, aircraft positioning, and finding the best angles, we worked together to ensure every detail contributed to the final portraits.
"During that session, Lisa had to adjust poses, and we had to even move the plane, to ensure we got the best angle in the wind and sun. It all worked out beautifully, and the pictures came out amazing."
Moments like these are one of my favorite parts of the senior portrait experience. Watching a senior arrive feeling a little uncertain and leave feeling confident, relaxed, and excited about their images is incredibly rewarding. It's a reminder that great senior portraits aren't just about the final photographs—they're about creating an experience where seniors feel comfortable enough to let their personality shine.
One of the most rewarding parts of any senior portrait experience is seeing the finished images for the first time. After all the planning, preparation, and excitement of the session, there's something special about viewing the portraits and realizing just how beautifully this milestone has been captured.
When asked about her favorite part of the experience, Anya didn't hesitate.
"Reviewing the photos and picking favorites after we got the link to our gallery."
The family also appreciated being able to preview images throughout the sessions, which helped build confidence and excitement along the way.
"It was helpful to gauge how it was going."
While sharing portraits on social media is certainly part of today's senior experience, Anya's family also recognized the importance of preserving these memories beyond a screen. Their portraits weren't created simply to be viewed once and forgotten—they were created to be shared, displayed, and enjoyed for years to come.
"We will use them to share on social media and with friends and family. We will frame a few and display them in our home."
They also selected printed wallets to include with graduation announcements and gifts for loved ones.
"We have printed wallets to share with friends and family as part of graduation announcements. We plan on printing a few more to display in our home."
As I often tell families, portraits become even more meaningful when they become part of everyday life. Whether displayed on a wall, tucked into a keepsake album, shared with family members, or incorporated into graduation announcements, printed portraits have a way of preserving not only how a moment looked—but how it felt. Years from now, those images will serve as a lasting reminder of Anya's senior year, her accomplishments, and the exciting journey that was just beginning.
One of my favorite questions to ask seniors is what comes next.
For Anya, the future is incredibly exciting.
She will be attending Western Michigan University to study Aviation Flight Science.
And her long-term goal?
"Anya wants to become a professional pilot in the airlines."
Talk about aiming high.
It's inspiring to photograph seniors who have such a clear vision for their future, and I have no doubt that Anya's determination and passion will take her far.
Every senior has places, people, and memories that helped shape who they are.
As a Westampton Senior Photographer, I believe those stories deserve to be preserved in a way that feels timeless and authentic.
